The growing influence of social media in the travel sector

If you are in the online travel business and seek to expand your reach into global markets in 2012, take heed of advice given in December’s edition of Travolution Magazine – which features a special report on how to break into overseas markets.  The informative article features advice from TEMA Global Search and TEMA Translation on pages 26 & 28: http://fmgstatic.ceros.com/travolutiondigital/december-2011/page/1

According to a survey carried out by Amadeus of its UK Travel clients*, 52% of travel firms said customers had obtained information or advice via social media before consulting a travel agent.   But it seems that travel firms are not taking advantage of the potential that going social offers — with just 40% of firms reporting that they had already integrated social media into their businesses.

For those travel and tourism businesses operating across global markets with multiple languages, the social media element becomes far more complex and even harder to get right.   How do you know which social networks your potential customers are using?  How can you ensure that the right message is going out to your target market at the right time?  How do you keep control of quality?

Good quality translation and transcreation can certainly play an important role in making your brand really stand out.   Providing a high quality social media presence in local language could help attract new customers who would otherwise potentially overlook your brand.

If you are moving global and want to go social to spread the word of your brand, speak to the team at TEMA Global Search or TEMA Translation for more information.
